Alekovi Waterfalls are a small cascade on the Skakavitsa River along the low-mountain circular trail on Vitosha, between the Simeonovo and Dragalevtsi neighbourhoods of Sofia.
The two main drops – Upper and Lower – have a total height of about 15–20 metres and are tucked into dense beech and conifer forest that stays pleasantly cool in summer. The upper fall lies at roughly 1160 m above sea level and the lower at about 1010 m, with rocky clearings and viewpoints along the path that open wide panoramas towards Sofia.
This quiet corner of Vitosha is a favourite spot for easy walks close to the city and is named after the Bulgarian writer and traveller Aleko Konstantinov, who loved to visit the area.
