Belintash is a striking rock plateau and ancient sanctuary in the northern Rhodope Mountains, about 30 km southeast of Asenovgrad, above the villages of Vrata and Mostovo. Its elongated, flat top rises like a natural terrace among forested ridges, with wide panoramas over the surrounding valleys.
Cut into the rock are round holes, gutters, niches, steps and two “wells” with drainage channels. These features are linked to Thracian ritual practices and, according to some interpretations, to sky-watching or calendar marking. Today Belintash is considered one of Bulgaria’s most notable rock-cut sanctuaries.
