Boyana Waterfall is the largest waterfall in the Vitosha Mountains, with its waters cascading from an impressive height of 25 meters. Located along the Boyana River, it is a popular destination for residents and visitors of Sofia. On clear spring days, the waterfall can even be seen from the city center.
The waterfall is accessible via several scenic hiking trails, with the main ones starting from the Boyana neighborhood. Visitors can choose between two primary routes: a shorter but steep and challenging path that takes about an hour and a half, or a longer, more gradual route of about two hours that offers beautiful views of the capital city. During the winter, the waterfall often freezes, transforming into an attractive spot for ice climbing.
