Chiprovski Waterfall

Chiprovski Waterfall is a cascading, about 18-metre waterfall on the Stara Reka River in the Chiprovtsi Mountain, the western part of the Balkan Range, above the town of Chiprovtsi. Hidden in dense beech forest at over 1200 m altitude near the Serbian border, it tumbles down moss-covered rock steps into a small natural pool.

In spring, when the snow melts on the main ridge, the stream is at its fullest and a fine mist hangs over the green valley.

The area is designated as the “Chiprovtsi Waterfall” protected site and combines a wild mountain landscape with relatively easy access along the marked Deyanitsa eco trail, where smaller cascades line the way.
