Kamen Del Peak is a rocky dome in the northern part of Vitosha Mountain, rising to an altitude of 1862 meters. Composed of andesite, the peak is characterized by steep and rocky northern slopes, while its southern side transitions gently towards the neighboring Ushtite Peak. Its massif is easily recognizable from almost all of Sofia, making it one of the most popular and beloved destinations in the mountain.
What makes Kamen Del truly special is its panoramic view. The summit offers what is perhaps the most beautiful and complete view of the capital city, Sofia, which lies at its foot "as if on the palm of your hand". The vista encompasses everything from Pancharevo Lake in the east to the western districts. In the distance, beyond the Sofia Field, the hills of the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina) are outlined, and to the southeast, you can see Vitosha's highest peaks—Cherni Vrah and Golyam Rezen, and even the distant peaks of Rila Mountain.
The accessibility and ease of the trek make Kamen Del an ideal place for a quick escape from the city. The ascent from Aleko Hut takes about an hour and has minimal elevation gain, making it more comparable to a walk in the park than a serious mountain hike. This combination of an easy route and a breathtaking view attracts not only tourists year-round but also photographers who come here to capture the magic of the sunrise or sunset over the big city.
