Kameshnishki Waterfall “Sramezhlivetsa” is one of the most impressive natural landmarks in the Bulgarian part of Belasitsa Mountain. It lies in the deep gorge of the Kameshnitsa River, near the village of Kamena and the town of Petrich, and drops in a powerful, almost vertical stream from a height of 21 metres. Hidden among rocks and dense greenery, the waterfall truly lives up to its name, which suggests something shy and concealed. Today it is reached by a marked trail and forms part of the thematic route “The Secrets of Water” in Belasitsa Nature Park. With its cool forest setting, roaring water and enclosed rocky scenery, the place feels secluded, fresh and memorable.
