Komatinski Skali are a striking rock formation in the Vlahina Mountains, rising above the village of Brestovo west of Simitli and close to the border with North Macedonia. Also known as Komatinitsa, the massif is built of Paleogene conglomerates formed about 35–40 million years ago, and parts of the rock crown reach roughly 100 metres in height. Its grey, reddish-grey and violet cliffs stand out sharply above the green valley and surrounding broadleaf forest, giving the landscape a rugged, almost semi-arid character. Beyond their geological value, the rocks are memorable for their dramatic silhouette and the wide views over the borderland mountain scenery. Today, Komatinski Skali are also protected as a natural landmark.
