Mangaro Waterfall is one of the most scenic natural places in Belasitsa Nature Park, hidden on the northern slopes of the mountain between the villages of Skrat and Klyuch. It is formed by the Dolo River, dropping through a shaded forest ravine with mossy rocks, deciduous woodland and the cool atmosphere typical of Belasitsa’s waterfalls. The flow is described as perennial, and the place is most impressive in spring, when the mountain streams are fuller. Blue-marked trails lead from both Skrat and Klyuch, yet the waterfall keeps a quiet, secluded character. The area also carries historical meaning: near the shared rest point stood part of the former border fence, the “klyon,” which functioned until 1990.
