Raysko Praskalo is Bulgaria’s highest permanent waterfall, plunging 124.5 m. It drops over the sheer “Paradise Rocks” beneath Botev Peak, at about 1,700 m a.s.l., within the Dzhendema Reserve of Central Balkan National Park. Fed by an “eternal” snowdrift, it gives rise to the Praskalska River.

Dramatic cliffs, alpine meadows and the constant spray create a truly wild Balkan feel; the nearby Rai Mountain Hut offers the classic viewpoint. Protected as a natural landmark since 1965, the waterfall is also one of Bulgaria’s 100 Tourist Sites.
