Tarnichensko Praskalo is a beautiful and relatively little-known waterfall in the Middle Balkan section of the Stara Planina Mountains, near the village of Tarnicheni and not far from Pavel Banya. The waterfall is about 40 metres high and drops over steep dark rock walls in a wild, shaded ravine, giving the place a rugged and almost untouched character. Its flow is seasonal, and it is usually most impressive in spring, when snowmelt and rainfall strengthen the water stream. The area is protected as a natural landmark, which highlights its environmental value. Although it is not among the best-known waterfalls in the Balkans, Tarnichensko Praskalo stands out with its dramatic rocky setting, quiet surroundings and hidden-mountain charm.
