The Klyuchki Waterfalls

The Klyuchki Waterfalls are a scenic forest cascade above the village of Klyuch, on the northern slopes of Belasitsa Mountain near Petrich. They are formed by the Lipnitsa River, also known locally as the Klyuchka River, and consist of three named falls: Chergata, Metlata and Vretenoto. Chergata is the lowest, Metlata spreads like thin streams over the rock, while Vretenoto drops through a narrow, faster rocky chute.

The setting is cool and shaded, with old trees, mossy stones and rich greenery. The area also carries strong historical meaning, as it lies close to the Klyuch Pass and Samuil’s Fortress, linked to the tragic Battle of Belasitsa in 1014.
