Trigrad Gorge

Trigrad Gorge is a dramatic marble canyon in the Western Rhodopes, carved by the Trigradska River just north of Trigrad village (Smolyan Province). It stretches for about 7 km, with the most spectacular narrow section lasting roughly 2–3 km; its near-vertical walls rise up to 300–350 m.

The road toward Yagodina follows the gorge floor, while the river famously plunges into the Devil’s Throat Cave and re-emerges downstream as a powerful karst spring. Protected as a natural landmark since the 1960s, the gorge blends wild scenery with classic Rhodope karst geology.
